Clinique Chubby Stick: Chunky Cherry.

Do you ever get that feeling that somewhere out there, on this vast, ever-turning world, there is someone out there who just gets you? If ever you were to meet them, you'd spend the time jaws agape at each other after both proclaiming (simultaneously and without prompting on either part), 'wouldn't it be fantastic if you could get a lip balm in the shape of a giant crayon!'

I'm beginning to think Clinique have been reading my thoughts. Either that, or they recognise the appeal to the child within all of us who desires to colour in.

Oh, how I love you, Clinique Chubby Stick.

The balm itself is lovely and moisturising. It's lightweight, not at all sticky and leaves an absolute beautiful tint on the lips. Being a balm, it doesn't have super staying power, but if you got to use a crayon to reapply, how could that ever be an issue?

Also, unlike other jumbo pencil/crayons, this baby doesn't need sharpening. It winds up and down. Genius.

Chubby Sticks come in eight shades, of which I've got the colour Chunky Cherry, a super bright yet sheer wash of red across the lips. I'm looking at adding the more subdued Mega Melon, a pinkish coral to my repertoire.

To get a little chubby friend in your life, check out your nearest Clinique counter, or order online here. RRP$35.

Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Blush: Shoot to Thrill.

When I was small, I once received a fantastically speckled egg for Easter. I treasured it so. Not wanting to eat it right away, I put it into the pocket of my dress for safe keeping. Some time later, it was (I'd decided) time to eat my fantastically speckled egg. I dipped my hand into my pocket, and horror of horrors - it was not there. Rather, a sticky, brown mess, flecked with the crushed, speckled shell.

As you can see, the loss of the fantastically speckled egg has stuck with me. Imagine how my face lit up when I opened Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Blush and saw its fantastic speckle.

Look at that. Dark pink, medium pink, light pink. They all blend to make pink. Pointless? Of course not, it's aesthetics.

The three things I look for in a blush (well, actually, most makeup) are pigmentation, blendability and buildability. The pigmentation of this blush is phenomenal, and despite being a matte blush it's easy to work with - it's easy to blend out into a natural looking flush of colour or build on for a strong cheek (which I'd only be brave enough for evening looks). Wizardry.

I also look for a cool name. Shoot to Thrill. Yes.

Now, I don't want to be the girl who cried dupe, especially considering I don't actually own the dupable blush in question, and yet I would be so bold as to suggest this: this could be a potential dupe for MAC Fleur Power. They're both matte, and both a gorgeously strong pink. I want to say Fleur Power is slightly warmer, but I think they're definitely in the same family of pink.

This blush also appeared in my recent monthly favourites post, and can be seen worn in this recent FOTD.

SAX Rich Lip Colour Lipstick: Berry Delight.

This lipstick, to me, smells faintly of liquorice. I cannot begin to convey the dizzying highs of awesome a liquorice scented lipstick imparts upon me, nor the depths of sadness I've felt when asking friends and loved ones to confirm my thoughts, only for them to knit their brows in confusion. To cut a long story short, I urge you all, for the sake of any repressed hypochondria, not to google 'scent disorders' or 'scent dysfunctions'.

On to the lipstick.

I love the colour. Perhaps my inclination to be at times quite difficult is what draws me to those difficult to place colours. Is it red? Pink? Plum? All of the above? Fantastic.

It's richly pigmented, but then, strong colour pay-off is to be expected from a lipstick that calls itself 'Rich Lip Colour Lipstick'. The above swatch is one swipe. It also stays put without fading or bleeding for hours, even after a cup of tea and a roll of sushi. For intense lip colour and longevity, I'm normally willing to forgo any creamy, moisturising qualities, and normally associate it with matte, drying finishes. However, with the addition of calendula, evening primrose, jojoba, vitamin E, candelilla, beeswax and silk powder, this lipstick is gorgeously moisturising with a sheen.

I also enjoy the packaging. You have to press the silver part inwards for it to then jump outward. Oddly fun.

RRP AU$14.95, SAX Rich Lip Colour Lipsticks come in six shades. Check here for stockists.
